I just finished the migration of the Redmine database to Gitlab, and
have set up the repository there to be available for general development.
This involved some renaming shenanigans that will mean you will have to
star the project again, but I think this is a price worth paying for
having a clean repo :)

The repository is now available under https://gitlab.com/gromacs/gromacs
(just as before), but with a different project id if you have been using
the RestAPI to access it.
The old mirror can still be accessed under
https://gitlab.com/gromacs/gromacs-mirror, but is essentially read only.

Hope that we can all be productive in the new environment, and please
let me know if there are any strange issues coming up.

Cheers
