              To do so, I have downloaded both the tar.gz files in root
              and tried to install them as per the standard installation
              protocol.<br>
              Unfortunately i am receiving the following error.<br>
              /usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/lib/libfftw3f.a(apiplan.o):
              relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be
              used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC<br>
              /usr/local/lib/libfftw3f.a: could not read symbols: Bad
              value<br>
              collect2: ld returned 1 exit status<br>
              make[3]: *** [libmd.la] Error 1<br>
              make[3]: Leaving directory `/root/gromacs-4.5.5/src/mdlib'<br>
