I was referring to networks like those supplied by Quadrics.

I have had experience with following networks and this is the rough order 
of scaling ability with the particular simulation systems I have 
tested/used: Quadrics "Elan3", Dell 5224 Gigabit, Myrinet and 100Base-T 
Ethernet (substantial way behind other three, funny enough).  Of course it 
isn't really a simple as that, but hopefully that helps some.
