[gmx-users] itanium2 vs xeon

We are looking at purchase options involving itanium2(dual) and 
xeon(dual) servers. Itanium2 is 4 times costlier than xeon machine ! In 
this context I have the following querys.
1. Are assembly loops implemented on itanium2 ?
2.  What is the OS used ? Mandrake Linux (64 bit )? What other Linux 
versions available ?
3. How does itanium2 1 GHz, compare to Xeon at 2.8 GHz for GROMACS
